Dr. Keith Murdoch will speak about "Protecting Intellectual Property". First he will present a short history of patenting to explain the basic concepts of patenting and intellectual property protection. Intellectual property includes patents, trade secrets, copyright, and trademarks.
Issued patents for optics and laser inventions will be used to illustrate these concepts and to demonstrate how to interpret patent documents. Intellectual property law is fairly homogenous across the world, with just a few variances worth noting in Europe and in Germany specifically.
The lecture will be held in English. The colloquium will take place in room A 320 in the main building of Leibniz Universität Hannover, Welfengarten 1.
