Uwe Morgner (spokesperson for the PhoenixD cluster of excellence), Andreas Waag (co-spokesperson for the QuantumFrontiers cluster of excellence) and Naz Pourmalek (managing director of Quantum Valley Lower Saxony e.V.) provided an overview of the various players in quantum technology and research in Hannover and Lower Saxony.
After that, the start-up QUDORA Technologies presented its work on developing a commercial quantum computer. The participants then discussed ways of transferring knowledge from the university to industry and the potential of the new technology for industry.
Arne Hirschner, Deputy Head of the Vocational Training & Skilled Workers Department at the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry, reported on the new opportunities for the admission and placement of foreign skilled workers through the Welcome & Business Center of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The visit to Leibniz University Hannover concluded with a tour of the Einstein Elevator, which simulates zero gravity.
The United Nations has declared 2025 the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). The German Physical Society is taking the lead in implementing it in Germany. Various events and activities are taking place under the motto ‘Quantum2025 - 100 years is just the beginning...’.
